Since August 4, China has organized large-scale military maneuvers, mobilizing aircraft, ships and ballistic missiles in six sectors around the island of Taiwan in response to a visit to the island by Speaker of the US House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi.

On Wednesday, the Chinese military announced the “successful” conclusion of military exercises around Taiwan.

The People’s Liberation Army explained that thanks to joint air and naval operations around the island, it “effectively tested” its combat capability.

Two weeks ago, the Chinese armed forces conducted various exercises in the South China Sea, the Yellow Sea and the Bohai Gulf.

China considers the island of Taiwan part of its territory and has repeatedly warned the US about the risk that a visit by a high-ranking American official to Taipei could become a serious problem for Beijing. (Source: Agerpres)
