According to Grevena fire commander Antonis Kalaidopoulos, “the fire has been extinguished” and a group of five firefighters-pedestrians remain in place until the signal for a complete extinguishment is given.
He said that heavy rains had fallen in the area of the national forest yesterday, which facilitates the work of complete extinguishing.
It is recalled that the fire was creeping, on terrain with a slope of more than 45%, as a result of which the approach of foot fire brigades was difficult.
It burned low vegetation and dry branches, while the robola and black pine that make up the main trunk of the forest were not in any danger, according to the Athens News Agency.
