Nick Kyrgios conquered the ATP 500 tournament in Washington for the second time on Sunday, defeating the Japanese Yoshihito Nishioka (96 ATP) in the final.
The Australian won 6-4, 6-3 in an hour and 23 minutes of play.
Kyrgios, ranked 63rd in the world, won the trophy three years after the previous one and a month after he played in the Wimbledon final.
“It’s an incredible feeling, a great emotion for me – to win a new title here” – Nick Kyrgios.
For Kyrgios, this was the seventh ATP title in his career, precedents were achieved in Marseille, Atlanta, Tokyo (all in 2016), Brisbane (2017), Acapulco (2019) and Washington (2019), in the final of which he defeated Russian Danilo Medvedev , the current world leader.
Kyrgios made it a double in Washington after winning the doubles final with American Jack Sock against Croatian-American Ivan Dodig/Austin Krajicek 7-5, 6-4, Agerpres reports.
