“Whatever the Prime Minister announces, from her step TEF, will also include 2023, including a commitment to cancel the €450 million solidarity levy.” This was stated Minister of Finance Christos Staikourasadding that “the prime minister will be fully prepared in September with calculated measures.”
According to the minister (in his speeches on the SKY TV channel), “it seems that additional fiscal space is being created in the summer, which from September will be fully used for the benefit of society (for additional support measures).” He added that “in September, we have to measure how much fiscal space is being created in the summer to pinpoint the margin we have, and then as we work collectively, the prime minister has to set priorities.” At the same time, he is optimistic about the contribution of tourism, stating that “we forecast tourism revenues of 15 billion euros and they will probably reach or exceed 18 billion euros.”
Finally, he said that “the big problem – at the global, European and, of course, at the Greek level – is accuracy, the reduction in the disposable income of citizens, the burden on family budgets.” Adding that “if there are no horizontal European solutions, no national budget will be able to cover all the burden.”
