Four Romanians died in Bulgaria after the bus they were traveling in was involved in an accident.

According to the head of DSU, five Romanian patients hospitalized in Bulgarian hospitals will be transferred to Romania. Raid Arafat reported that one of the wounded was operated on.

According to DSU, the accident happened on Saturday morning around 01:30. There were 25 passengers in the bus with Romanian registration, 7 of whom were citizens of Turkey, the rest were Romanians.

The accident occurred between the village of Kutsina and Polikraishte (Veliko Tarnovo region). The bus hit a car parked on the side of the road, after which it crashed into trees. According to Bulgarian media, the passengers of the parked car had just got out of it, so they survived.

According to preliminary data, out of 25 passengers of Romanian and Turkish citizenship, 9 were hospitalized in a hospital in Bulgaria. After the tragic event, four Romanians were declared dead.

At the level of the Department of Emergency Situations, it was decided to send a SMURD helicopter from the Bucharest Aeromedical Operational Point, which went to Bulgaria with a medical team from the Bucharest Clinical Emergency Hospital Floreaska to assess and plan the possible reception and transport of patients to Romania. At the same time, depending on the development of the situation, 3 more helicopters are being prepared to be sent to Bulgaria for the evacuation of Romanian patients.

The consul of Romania in Bulgaria is also in the department of the hospital where Romanian patients are hospitalized.

At the moment, the Romanian medical team, together with the Bulgarian medical team, is conducting a medical assessment of the patients’ condition.
