Evaluation results are announced during the current period FOREVER AND EVER which are made by international bodies that either reflect the position of universities according to a number of criteria, or concentrate on one area (for example, academic work, research, recognition of academic degrees by the labor market, etc.). Usually in August, the results of the most famous Shanghai University Ranking, created by Shanghai Jiaotong University in 2003. According to the International Directory of Universities (International Association of Universities), the number of universities worldwide exceeds 18,000. In this context, international ranking lists offer an image – either in general or in specific areas – of Greek universities, which in turn highlights their success.

For example, for the second time in the last two years Athens University ranked among the top 200 universities in the world in one of the most important global rankings, which is based on an assessment of the quality, quantity and effectiveness of the research work of institutions around the world. EKPA is ranked 186th in the world among the top 1000 universities according to the internationally recognized ranking table “Ranking of research papers for world universities”. The previous similar success was in January 2021, when the institution was ranked 182nd in the Webometrics ranking.

In addition, in a recent evaluation, EKPA ranked first among seven Greek universities included in a special ranking table. In second place in Greece and 350th in the world was AUTH, followed by Univ. Crete at 493, Ioannina at 601-650, NTUA at 651-700, Univ. Patras at positions 801-850, and Univ. Thessaly in positions 901-950. The specific position obtained by EKPA is the highest in the fifteen years (2007-2022) during which the ranking in question publishes results. The previous highest score was 199th in 2013. Harvard is #1 in the world rankings, followed by Stanford, University College London, Oxford, Johns Hopkins and the University of Toronto in Canada.
