Doru Panaitescu, a blogger with a passion for nature photography, will hold a naturalist workshop on Friday, March 15, in Bucharest, according to a press release.
Author of several books on meadow and Danube Delta birds, nature photographer and amateur naturalist, Doru Panaitescu has been supporting the cause of wild animals for several years through various educational events, free seminars, photo exhibitions, appearances on radio and television, on his personal blog or on Facebook.
Doru Panaitescu hopes that through such actions he will change the general public’s misconceptions about reptiles in general and snakes in particular.
“Snakes evoke two strongly antagonistic feelings in people – either admiration or uncontrollable fear. If until now I have held workshops and lectures for photography enthusiasts who want to see snakes and other reptiles, I also appeal to those who have a phobia of reptiles to come and listen to the story of these fascinating animals. This seminar was also held 5 years ago, but it is time to revive the topic, because the number of those who have this phobia was not small, including among educated people who are active and engaged in various types of outdoor activities. And the best argument that I will speak in the language and content of those who are afraid of snakes is that I myself am afraid of snakes,” Doru said.
Only people will be present at the seminar, not snakes, reptiles only in photos. If this workshop is a success with the public, it will be repeated in other cities of the country. Also, Doru Panaitescu intends to provide material and technical support to other enthusiasts from other countries for similar initiatives, because the fear of snakes makes many people throughout Europe (regardless of how “civilized” this country seems to be) show unjustified cruelty to reptiles, the need to naturalistic education stands sharply at the level of the entire continent.
The free workshop on Friday 15 March 2024 will be hosted by F64Sudio, a software services and solutions company involved in many other CSR projects, some of which have won local and international awards and accolades. Entry is free, subject to prior registration on a specially created event page on Facebook.
