After Angel Iordenescu, Edi Iordenescu became the next selector who qualified the Romanian football team for the European Championship. The Tricolors finished top of their EURO 2024 qualifying group and that performance sparked interest from clubs looking for a coach.
>> CONTROVERSY. One of the loudest voices in the world of football: “Can we accept and assume that Romania is rated as the weakest national team among the 24 that will be at EURO 2024 in Germany?”
Warsaw Legia wants Edi Yordenescu on the technical bench
Edi Iordenescu’s contract with the Romanian national team expires immediately after the conclusion of EURO 2024, and the coach refused to talk about a possible extension of the deal.
In addition, DigiSport reports that Legia Warsaw are interested in his services and would appoint Octavian Morara, former sporting director of Rapid and Gaz Metan MediaČ™, to convince the coach to leave the national team.
Legia Warsaw has 15 championship titles in Poland and is currently in 6th place in the Ekstraklasa with 41 points, 4 from European Cups.
Moraru is currently the sporting director of Radomiak, the Polish first league, and is a good friend of Edi Jordenescu.
Jordenescu Jr. has been a selector for more than two years, since January 25, 2022.
Edi Iordenescu coached FCSB before taking charge of the national team. The selector distinguished himself with 12 matches on the red-blue bench, and left only three months later. During his career, Edi Yordenescu also coached CFR Cluj, Astra, Gaz Metan, CSKA Sofia, Panduri and FCM Tirgu Mures.
