Gabriela Ruse lost to Katarzyna Kava at the WTA in Antalya

Thus, Ruse (170 WTA) was eliminated from Poland’s Katarzyna Kava (190 WTA), score 3-6, 7-6(6), 6-2.

Gabriela missed two match points at 6-4 in the second set tiebreak, and Katarzyna won after two hours and 46 minutes of play.

Ruse and Cava (190 WTA) entered the main draw of the competition in Turkey after qualifying. The Romanian defeated Andrea Mita (214 WTA) and Berfa Cengiz (327 WTA), and the Pole beat Vera Zvonareva (268 WTA / former world number two) and Carol Monnet (195 WTA).

  • Presence in the first round is rewarded with 1,250 euros and one WTA point.
  • Romania is also represented in Antalya Iryna Begu (126 WTA). Returning from an elbow injury, the Romanian will play in the 1/8 finals with the Croatian Tara Wurth (493 WTA).

The Megasaray Hotels Open in Antalya is a WTA 125 category tournament with a total prize fund of $115,000. The competition is held on clay.
