Romania will be present at the European Championship in Germany, and coach Edi Iordenescu has analyzed two famous opponents from the group stage.
The selector Edi Iordenescu believes that Romania is below Belgium and Slovakia
Romania qualified for the European Championship in Germany by finishing first in the preliminary competition over Switzerland.
Before friendly matches with Northern Ireland (March 22) and Colombia (March 26), Edi Iordenescu analyzed the opponents of the “tricolor” in the group stage of EURO-2024.
The coach emphasized that Slovakia is participating in the European Championship for the third time in a row and many football players play in European Cups.
“Compared to us, Slovakia is at the third consecutive European Championship. Therefore, they are much better than us. And 13-14 of their players have also been to the last EURO, so that’s important experience for them. In addition, they had 6 players in the Champions League groups and 3 of them also reached the spring. In total, 10 reached the European spring (in all three competitions – none). There is no point even comparing us with Belgium, because it is clear that they are superior to us from an individual level point of view.
… Unfortunately, this is the first and only action of the national team since qualifying for the final tournament. But we have to work on it and find a solution together. For me, this is the penultimate filter for the final decisions before the EURO. We will treat these matches as EURO because we have that obligation.
It is the penultimate filter through which we can see the guys in the game, draw conclusions and intervene where necessary. The last filter represents for me and my staff the period from this action to the EUROs with all the evolutions of the boys at the clubs. Because we will be very careful in monitoring.” – said Edi Iordanescu, reports FRF TV.
