Dan Shuku, the majority shareholder of Rapidu, reacted after Daniel Nikulaje was detained by the law enforcement authorities on Thursday morning, when the president of the Giulesti group was heard in a case organized by DIICOT prosecutors.
Dan Shuku: “I can’t imagine Daniel Nikulae with a machine gun in his hands. Based on what we know now, he will not be suspended.”
Nikulae is suspected of helping “Rapid” fans bring pyrotechnic materials to the match. If found guilty, the president of the group with Giulio risks being banned from the stadium, according to Law 4/2008.
Suku stated this
“This morning I woke up to a phone call that the president of the club had gone to a hearing. It’s something outside of what you’re used to. but in football you get used to a lot. We have additional information.
I have seen very little data in the file, I have seen the part that relates to Daniel. Compliance with the law is important wherever we are. But I would make a distinction between violence and burning torches.
Research is ongoing. We are obliged to comply with the laws. This part with pyrotechnic materials is illegal. We cannot compare torches alone with violence, a fight in a stadium, destruction. These are very different things.
I cannot imagine Mr. Nikulai with a machine gun in his hands. If I had known that there were guns and ammunition in Daniel’s house, I would have been in trouble. But I don’t think so.
From what we know now, Nico will not be suspended. We’re waiting to find out more and we’ll see, but that’s not the case. I’ve never seen anyone more involved with Rapid than he is. I talked with Niko, I didn’t notice anything bad” – Dan Sukuquoted by Gazeta Sporturilor.
At the age of 41, Daniel Nikulae will be President of Rapid from 2021. In 2018, he retired from sports, also from Juleshti.
Throughout his career, Nikulae played for Rapid, Auxerre, Monaco, Nancy, Kuban and Astra Giurgiu.
He wore the shirt of the Romanian national team 39 times, for which he also scored 9 goals.
Dan Shuku: “We guard the stadium only during the match. We don’t know what’s going on until we’re here.”
After searches of several Rapid supporters (in Bucharest, Prahov, Ilfov), prosecutors found pyrotechnic materials, as well as weapons, including lethal firearms. 28 people should be brought to the meeting.
The charges in this case are the creation of an organized criminal group, destruction by arson, violation of public order by violence against property, any operations with unauthorized pyrotechnic products.
“We, in the club, have a budget of 25 thousand lei, at the expense of which we support the coaches and everything that means the fans’ trips. And once or twice we entered the choreography. Today is not very pleasant, but a new competition is starting.
Rapid has not participated in such competitions for many years. I want to talk to the players, this is their chance to be a group, not a criminal group, but a group. Saturday was the best night I’ve had in football. Thursday is not so good.
Today it seems to me that it was a beautiful wedding, and at the end someone threw mud on the bride’s dress. We are tenants here, we take the premises no later than 24 hours before the match. We guard the stadium only during the match. We don’t know what’s happening in the stadium until we’re away.
This stadium belongs to the sports club “Rapid”. I need to talk to the owner about a hired security company. Our names are Libra and we are not related. It’s just for the occasion.
In the security of the company with which we work, we have from 250 to 350 people. No company can be sure that no puzzler will drop a torch into the field. If I could find one it would also help me with other expenses. One day every two weeks belongs to us. As for security, as long as we are tenants, it does not concern me” – Dan Suku.
Dan Shuku: “There is no more civilized atmosphere than in Julesti”
“There are a lot of spaces in this stadium that we don’t know about, and it’s none of our business. We have nothing to complain about the organization of the matches. If we see that there is something that eludes us, we will comply.
The idea of solving problems by force is not for me. We saw an increasingly civilized relationship between us and the gallery. There is no more civilized atmosphere than in Julesti. I don’t want the fans to get the impression that the stadium is dangerous. The hardest time for me was when I scored two own goals in Petrolulu, and not now.
How could I compare what is happening here with what was at the Arc de Triomphe. How can you do that? The presence of a torch in the stands is difficult to consider as something criminal. I see matches in Greece where materials are used much more often than here.
The law must be respected. We are waiting for the fans at Juleshta with Mayak, they are safe. They did not have my consent to upload the material. If someone else were asked, I don’t know what to say. We were fined 60,000 lei, we had suspended sectors, we only had one torch. This is exaggerated.
I hope with all my heart that the law applies to everyone. There were more guest torches than ours. At the moment, Romania has laws, institutions, and I have nothing left to do.
I decided that if I’m still around, it’s nice to say hello” – Dan Suku.
