Andy Murray scored his first win of the year in official competition in the first round of the ATP 250 competition in Doha with a score of 6-1, 7-6(5) ahead of France’s Alexander Muller (75 ATP).

Andy Murray passed the 1/8 finals of the ATP in Doha

The former world number one has had a poor start to the year, with first-round exits in Brisbane, the Australian Open, Montpellier and Marseille.

In Doha, the Brit crossed this milestone against Alexander Muller in a match that lasted one hour and 55 minutes.

The first set was at the discretion of the world number 50, but the second act went to a tie-break, where he won with two breaks to qualify.

In the 1/8 finals, Andy Murray will meet the Czech Jakub Mensik (116 ATP).

The Qatar Open is an ATP 250 tournament and will be held from February 19 to 24. The game is played on a hard surface and the total prize pool is $1,395,875. The champion of the title is Daniil Medvedev.
