This week’s ATP Rankings marks a first, marking the first time in the history of the world rankings (which began in 1973) that there will be no one-handed backhand player in the top 10.

For the first time in history, no one-handed player made it into the ATP TOP-10

Stefanos Tsitsipas has dropped to No. 11 in the world rankings, and for the first time in the history of the ATP rankings, there will be no one-handed backhand player in the top 10.

Since the first ATP rankings, published on August 23, 1973, until last week, there has always been at least one one-handed backhand player in the world’s top 10.

The names of the main players in the history of the ATP who performed a one-handed backhand

Ili Nastase, John Newcom, John McEnroe, Ivan Lendl, Stefan Edberg, Boris Becker, Pete Sampras, Thomas Master, Patrick Rafter, Gustavo Kuerten and Roger Federer.

At the time of the 2021 US Open, there were even four players in the ATP TOP 10 playing backhands with one hand: Stefanos Tsitsipas was then 3rd, Dominic Thiem was 6th, Roger Federer 9th and Denis Shapovalov 10th.
