The Kansas City Chiefs beat the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LVIII

At Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, the 49ers were slight favorites and came close twice.

The Chiefs have played in four of the last five Super Bowls and became the first team to win back-to-back titles since the Patriots did it in 2003 and 2004.

At just 28 years old, Patrick Mahomes became the sixth quarterback in NFL history to win at least three Super Bowls, and Andy Reid became the fifth coach to win three or more, according to the BBC.

This year’s edition of the Super Bowl has undoubtedly generated more interest than ever, with the US television audience expected to surpass the record of 115 million viewers set last year after Kansas City’s victory over the Eagles.

It was the first Super Bowl to be held in the entertainment capital of the world. Prince Harry made a surprise appearance at the end-of-season awards gala, which took place on Thursday in Vegas, writes News.ro.

Kansas City won the Super Bowl in 1969 (IV), 2019 (LIV), 2022 (LVII) and 2023 (LVIII).

The Taylor Swift element in the Super Bowl equation

The superstar’s relationship with Kansas City star Travis Kelce brought many new fans to the Chiefs and the NFL in general, and there were even conspiracy theories that the team’s playoff run was rigged to maintain this new interest and help re-elect US President Joe Biden .

This week, NFL chairman Roger Goodell called the claims “nonsense,” and many media outlets speculated whether the entertainer would be able to attend the Super Bowl as she had a concert in Tokyo on Saturday.

She did so, joining dozens of stars at Allegiant Stadium. Swift was spotted at the game with her famous friends Blake Lively and Ice Spice.

Jay-Z, Beyoncé, Paul Rudd, Queen Latifah, Lady Gaga, Gwen Stefani, Jared Leto, Luke Combs, LeBron James, Gordon Ramsay, Elon Musk, Jimmy Kimmel and Jeff Goldblum were spotted cheering on the teams.

Other artists in attendance and performing during the big championship game included Usher, who headlined at halftime. Also, Reba McIntyre performed the national anthem, Post Malone sang “America the Beautiful,” and Andra Day performed “Lift Every Voice and Sing,” writes News.ro.
