Frank Rijkaard is again wanted on the bench of “Barcelona” – Marco van Basten can be part of the staff

Barcelona are already making calculations for a new technical director, after Xavi announced last week that he will step down from the position at the end of the season.

Although there is no time yet, president Joan Laporta has already contacted Frank Rijkaard, the former coach of the Catalans in 2003-2008, writes Marca.

The Dutchman last coached the Saudi Arabian national team, from where he was fired in early 2013, and three years later announced that he had left the coaching job and would not return to football in this position.

Although the chances of his return are slim, Rijkaard would definitely not refuse Laporta, who nominated another legendary name for the position of second coach: Marco Van Basten.

At the age of 61, Frank Rijkaard coached “Barcelona”, “Galatasaray”, “Sparta” Rotterdam and the national teams of the Netherlands and Saudi Arabia.

Together with the Catalans, he won the Champions League trophy, two titles and two Spanish Super Cups.
