​Coco Gauff needed just 65 minutes to reach the quarter-finals of the 2024 Australian Open, with the American beating Poland’s Magdalena Frech.

The US Open champion enjoyed a favorable run in Melbourne to claim her fourth overall victory: 6-1, 6-2 against Frech.

Gauff (4th seed) has already defeated Anna Karolina Schmidlova (68 WTA / 6-3, 6-0), Caroline Doleheide (43 WTA / 7-6(2), 6-2) and Alicia Parks (82 WTA / 6 – 0, 6-2).

Koko made three times more winners than her opponent (21-7) and made five breaks in total.

Know:

• The 19-year-old American will fight for a place in the semifinals with Marta Kostyuk (37 WTA), after the Ukrainian clearly defeated the Russian Maria Timofeeva (170 WTA) with a score of 6-2, 6-1.

• Previously, Gauff and Kostiuk met only once at the WTA tournament, in Adelaide (2022), and the American won with a score of 6-3, 5-7, 6-3.
