Aryna Sabalena, strong 2024 debut – easy win in WTA second round in Brisbane

2023 was a very successful year for Sabalenka: she won her first Grand Slam title (at the Australian Open), became the world leader, and had strong results at other Grand Slam tournaments: a finalist at the US Open and a semi-finalist at Roland Garros and Wimbledon.

This season, the athlete from Belarus wants other important titles and a return to the chair of the WTA leader.

Arina (WTA number two and top favorite in Brisbane) has started the new season well with a one quick win over Lucia Bronzetti. It took only 59 minutes for Sabalenka to overtake the Italian, who in many moments seemed like just a sparring partner.

In the 1/8 finals, Aryna will meet the winner of the match between Danielle Collins (54 WTA) and Lin Zhu (33 WTA and favorite 15).
