The Romanian national team was often criticized during the qualifying matches for the 2024 European Championship, and Yanis Hagi now, after qualifying for the final tournament, talks about the chances of the “tricolor” at the competition in Germany.
The group from the previous EURO-2024 tournament was “won by talent”, says Janis Hagi
Yanis says they have been unlucky in previous matches and is confident Romania can progress to the eighth round of EURO 2024.
“I feel like we have a lot of talent and I honestly think we haven’t reached our full potential yet. I think Europe doesn’t know us either, but I feel and hope that it will be like that next summer.
We will continue in the same way, with hard work and modesty, with the unity and cohesion of the group, and that is how we will manage to pass the groups. In the summer, we will enter the arena of European football and we will have to prove our ability.
A lot has been said, but the group was conquered by talent. You can’t beat Switzerland without talent, you can’t beat Israel without talent, you can’t beat Switzerland at home without talent.
But at the same time, this qualification was only a stepping stone. We did it, but we still have a lot to show. We must not abandon the values that brought us to the EURO. In fact, we have to add others, and the leaders in the dressing room, together with Mister (coach Edi Iordenescu – no), we have to take care and keep everything we have done well.
In Hungary, at the end of the match with Israel, look at the joy of the staff. I have photo, when we all run away from the bank. I zoomed in and saw an explosion of joy. Look at the reaction of the technical and medical staff, everyone with the national team.
The joy that we, the players and staff, as a group managed to do is unbelievable, I think this photo best describes what it was like back then. Something incredible!” – Janis Hagiquoted by FRF.
21 national teams have already qualified for Euro 2024, and the three that will complete the standings in Germany will go out of the Nations League playoffs.
