Novak Djokovic hopes to win the Davis Cup again for Serbia

Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic, the ATP leader, says he wants to give Team Serbia “momentum” to win the Davis Cup and end an exceptional season “with fanfare”, according to EFE and AFP.

“I am very happy with the way I played and won the trophy at the Champions Tournament in Turin and I hope to achieve the same level in the Davis Cup. This is the last attempt before the end of an exceptional season,” said Djokovic.

He reiterated that winning the Davis Cup is one of the “biggest goals” of the year.

“It’s the last week of the season, so we all need a last-ditch effort,” insisted Djokovic, who won three new Grand Slam titles in 2023 (Australian Open, Roland Garros, US Open), taking his total to 24, an all-time record in ATP.

At the age of 36, the Serb will finish 2023 at the top of the ATP rankings, this is the eighth time in his career that he will finish in the leader’s chair, writes Agerpres.

Serbia, led by Djokovic, won the Davis Cup in 2010.

Serbia will play Great Britain in the quarter-finals of the 2023 Davis Cup in Malaga on Thursday.
