After qualifying for the final with the fastest time, Popovici finished the race in 1:43:01, ahead of Vlad Stanka (1:45:38), GSP reports.
The day before, the 19-year-old champion also won gold in the 100-meter freestyle.

- David (coach Adrian Redulescu) will participate in one test each day: 100m freestyle (Thursday), 200m freestyle (Friday), 100m freestyle (Saturday) and 50m freestyle (Sunday).
At the previous European Championships in the 25-meter pool (Kazan – 2021), David Popovichi won the gold medal in the 200-meter freestyle.
The country’s swimming championships in Otopeni are a test competition for the European 25-meter pool championships, which will take place next month (December 5-10) in Otopeni, reports CS Dinamo.
