Ons Jaber (three-time Grand Slam finalist) has announced that she will donate a portion of her winnings from the 2023 Tournament of Champions to Palestinian children.
Attending the competition in Cancun (where the top eight tennis players of the 2023 season compete), Jaber said she wants world peace and will donate money to help Palestinian children who are suffering because of the war between Israel and Hamas.
“It is very difficult to see how children and babies die every day. My heart is breaking. So I decided to donate part of my prize money to help the Palestinians.
I can’t enjoy this victory with what’s going on. Sorry, we’re here for the tennis, but this is so frustrating…
This is not a political message, just a humanitarian one, I want world peace, that’s all. I decided to donate my prizes to help Palestinian children,” said the 29-year-old athlete from Tunisia.
Ons Jaber says he is donating part of his prize money to Palestine:
“I’m very happy with the win, but lately I haven’t been very happy. The situation in the world does not please me… I do… I’m sorry. It is very difficult to see how children and babies die every day.… pic.twitter.com/fVBz9McSjU
