Stan Wawrinka didn’t even make it past the first round of the ATP tournament in Basel.

The Swiss, who is ranked 45th in the ATP rankings, was defeated in straight sets by Oleksandr Shevchenko (83 ATP), a player who arrived from the qualification.

He needed an hour and 47 minutes to eliminate the three-time Grand Slam winner and qualify for the round of 16, where he will meet the winner of Taylor Fritz (9 ATP) and Max Purcell (41 ATP).

Swiss Indoors is an ATP 500 tournament that will be held from October 23 to 29. The game is played on a hard surface and the total prize pool is 2,196,000 euros. The title champion is Felix Auger-Aliassime.
