Ireland, the current leader of the world hierarchy, was eliminated in the quarter-finals of the Rugby World Cup in France.

The three-time world champions from New Zealand led at half-time after a very spectacular first half.

Although the New Zealanders made a great start to the contest and opened the game with a penalty converted by Mounga, the Irish were not beaten and there was a perfect balance in the essay section at the break.

Faingaanuku (19 mins) and Savea (33 mins) scored one try each for New Zealand, while Aki (27 mins) and Gibson Park (39 mins) scored one try each for Ireland.

Iain Foster’s side got off to a flying start to the second half with Jordan’s try (53rd minute) and the New Zealanders kept the tempo high as they secured a presence in the penalty area where they will face Argentina.
