Sorana Kirstea and Bethany Mattek-Sands were defeated in the first round of the WTA in Beijing

The Romanian-American team was defeated in two sets by the pair of Hao-Ching Chan / Juliana Olmos (Taiwan / Mexico) with a score of 6-3, 6-4. The game lasted one hour and 23 minutes.

  • Bethany Mattek-Sands (38 years old) has 5 Grand Slam titles in doubles and 4 in mixed. The American also won Olympic gold in mixed doubles in 2016.
