A Newcastle fan was stabbed three times in Milan

Three Newcastle fans were attacked in Milan, their shirts were slashed, and one of them was taken to hospital with three stab wounds, the Daily Mail reports.

Eddie McKay, 58, was returning to his hotel with his son and a friend on Tuesday morning when about eight attackers set upon them in the Navigli area.

He was stabbed twice in the arm and once in the back, and his son was stabbed in the head.

The fans were in Italy for the match against Milan in the Champions League groups.

According to the family, the fan is out of danger and will return to England soon.

“We are deeply concerned by the news that a fan has been seriously assaulted in Milan and have contacted the local authorities to understand the circumstances.

Our thoughts are with the fan and his family and we hope for a speedy and full recovery,” Newcastle responded.

Returning to the Champions League groups after a 20-year hiatus, Newcastle are expecting around 4,000 fans for their match against AC Milan on Tuesday.
