Mick Schumacher, invited by Alpine to participate in the World Endurance Championship

Driver Mick Schumacher, son of seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher, may leave Formula 1 at the end of the 2023 season, according to Motorsport magazine, cited by DPA.

Mick Schumacher wants to join Alpine’s sports program to compete in the traditional 24 Hours of Le Mans. The management of the French brand has already contacted Schumacher and his agent, and next season there is a chance that the German driver will represent Alpine in the World Endurance Championship, writes Agerpres.

Neither Schumacher nor his entourage have confirmed the move, but for the 2024 Formula 1 season, most of the pilot seats are already set and the chances of catching a vacancy are minimal.

Mick Schumacher is currently Mercedes’ reserve driver after his contract with American team Haas was not renewed at the end of 2022.

The official Mercedes drivers are Britons Lewis Hamilton and George Russell, both of whom recently extended their contracts with the German team.
