“Klaksvik” is one of the pleasant surprises of the current European Cup season. The team from the Faroe Islands once fought for the UEFA Champions League groups, but ended up playing in the Conference League.

Klaksvik, the only team from the Faroe Islands that plays in European Cups

About 54,000 people live in the Faroe Islands.

Despite this, the country had a lot to gain sportingly this season after Klaxvik managed to top the European competition groups.

The team with a ticket price of only 2.9 million euros started from the 1st preliminary round of the UEFA Champions League and along the way eliminated Ferencvaros, Haken and was only one step away from eliminating Molde (loss on aggregate of matches 3:2).

The Faroese lost in the play-offs of the Europa League against Tiraspol “Sheriff”, but also lost this double with a total score of 3:2.

Thus, they automatically qualified for the UEFA Conference League groups, where they will play Slovan Bratislava, Lille and Olimpia Ljubljana.

Another impressive thing about this team from the Faroe Islands is the stadium they will be playing in.

Djupumira Stadium has a capacity of 2,500 and will host European Cup matches for the first time in history.

The arena is located in the very center of a fantastic landscape that seems to have been taken out of science fiction films.
