Novak Djokovic reached the quarterfinals of the US Open for the 13th time in his career, defeating the unexpected Borna Gojo (105th world number) in three sets.

Future ATP No. 1 Djokovic took two hours and 26 minutes to win the match on the Arthur Ashe Arena 6-2, 7-5, 6-4.

Gojo struggled to keep pace and boasts 40 winning shots against the Serb. Borna served well (14 aces), did an exemplary job at the net (14/17 points won), but was unable to take advantage of the opponent’s rare mistakes.

• Djokovic will face Taylor Fritz (9th seed) in the quarter-finals after the American defeated Switzerland’s Dominic Stricker (128 ATP) 7-6(2), 6-4, 6-4.

• Only Ivan Lendl (17) reached the quarterfinals more than once at the US Open. Novak Djokovic (13) equaled Andre Agassi and Roger Federer.

• Nole triumphed at Flushing Meadows in 2011, 2015 and 2018.

• Regardless of the course of the 2023 US Open, Novak will be the world leader in the last Grand Slam of the season.
