MG enjoys a defiant success in Europe. During the first half of 2023 the brand has already sold more cars than all of last year. A success that can of course be credited to the MG4, a low-cost electric compact car that is driving sales growth. In anticipation of four new products announced by the brand next year, including the Cyberster roadster, which visitors to the last Festival of Speed in Goodwood, England, were already able to appreciate in action.
However, the Sino-British manufacturer does not forget about other relevant models. So is it the turn of the EHS SUV and its HS thermal version, which is offered in some markets, to go through the restyling box? A facelift, the first image of which was leaked last spring, and which is now confirmed by the inevitable marketing.
All forward!
In fact, this first image already revealed everything there was to know about this facelift. In fact, only the front part is affected. Completely transformed, it is characterized by an unprecedentedly wider radiator grille, a completely redesigned shield, new headlights and a new light signature. In fact, at first glance this (E)HS looks like a Ford Kuga or a Ford Focus. The American manufacturer should be rated moderately. But one thing can be said for sure, this new design brings real change for the model and should allow him to calmly face the second part of his career.
Limited changes
On the other hand, MG concentrated all its forces and resources only on this front. The rest does not develop, except for a slightly dusty rear bumper in the corners. Also pay attention to the new discs.
There is on board multimedia system with a face lift. Good thing the old one was slow and awkward to use. We hope the new one will show better sensitivity. In addition, the customer can choose an all-red upholstery for the seat, center armrest and door panels.
Under the hood too!
Nothing is reported under the hood. The MG HS is still sold in France in its single EHS version Hybrid engine with a capacity of 258 horsepower allowing to drive up to 52 km WLTP on electricity alone. Therefore, CO2 emissions are 43 g/km. In other European countries, it is also offered with a 1.5-liter Turbo petrol engine with 162 hp, leaving the choice between a six-speed manual or a seven-speed automatic transmission.
