Almost a year after her final official match at the 2022 US Open, Simona Halep has opened up about the long period she has been waiting to be heard by the Sport Resolution tribunal in her doping case.

Simona Halep: “Waiting was a difficult test. I never put this thing off”

In an interview with Eurosport, Simona Halep spoke about the emotions she went through each time she hoped to be auditioned, as well as the disappointment she felt with each postponement.

“Every time I refused to believe that it would be postponed again, because I really wanted to be tried. Regardless of the outcome, I’ve always said I want to be heard and we’ll see what happens.

Waiting was a difficult test, because in life uncertainty and the fact that you have no strength creates great difficulties for you, it is difficult to live in this style.

It was a period when I had a lot of hope from one postponement to another. I trained intensively, I wanted to be on the court, I began to look at tennis differently and appreciated every day spent in training.

But every time the hearing was adjourned, it was as if I had received a strong blow and lost my spirit again. There were a lot of ups and downs, but I can say that I did pretty well and didn’t lose the joy of playing tennis.

I have never postponed this matter, this meeting. All the time, those who accused me were delaying, I wanted to go to trial as soon as possible and get a decision.” – extolled the former world leaderfor Eurosport.

Know:

• The news that Simona Halep was temporarily suspended for doping appeared on Friday, October 21, 2022.

• Halep is temporarily suspended from tennis after testing positive for Roxadustat (conducted during the 2022 US Open). Later, Simona was also accused of “violations” in the biological sports passport.

• Simona’s case is now being heard by Sport Resolutions, an independent court in London that hears doping cases in white sport.

• However, if innocence cannot be proven, Simone has one more appeal: the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Lausanne.

• It will be recalled that the maximum suspension that Halep could receive is 4 years.
