John Isner (38) announced on social media that the US Open 2023 (August 28 – September 10) will be the last tournament in which he will participate. The 2.08-meter “giant” will say goodbye to the ATP circuit after more than 17 years of playing at the highest level.

Isner participated in the longest match in tennis history, a match played at Wimbledon in 2010.

Then John Isner and Nicolas Mahut played for 11 hours and 5 minutes, the dispute lasted three days. In the end, it was 6-4, 3-6, 6-7(7), 7-6(3), 70-68 in favor of the American.

Isner was ranked No. 1 in the American ATP rankings for nine consecutive seasons and was consistently in the TOP-20 from 2010 to 2019.

In addition, the American holds the record for the number of aces on the ATP circuit: 14,411.

John Isner won 16 ATP championship titles during his career, 14 of which were obtained after competitions held in the USA.

He was ranked 8th in the world (as of July 16, 2018), won 488 matches (singles), lost 316, and collected $22,296,808 in tennis prize money.

At the Grand Slam level, Isner reached the fourth round at the Australian Open and Roland Garros, was a semi-finalist at Wimbledon in 2018, and at the US Open his best result was a quarter-final appearance (2011, 2018).
