Glasgow Rangers have left Janis Hagi off the UEFA shortlist for their Champions League play-off double with PSV Eindhoven, with manager Michael Beale explaining why.

Janis Hagi is not at an optimal level, says coach Michael Beal

Beal says Janis is still not fully recovered from a serious injury suffered early last year and is not at the level required to compete in Europe’s top competitions.

“I have no problem with Janis. I think Janis, as he also said, is very happy when he plays football. He sat on the bar for a year, and now he wants to play. He wants to play every week.

Until the end of the transfer window, we will see what his situation is. He worked hard over the summer to get fit, but I wouldn’t say he’s at his best right now.

I had a serious conversation with him. He is a player with whom I have a close personal relationship. He wants to be an important member of the team and play every week. But no one here at Rangers is sure of that.

We need to talk more about what it takes for Janis to get back to the level he was at before. A lot happened behind the scenes. Yanis and his agent were looking for different solutions” – Michael Bealecoach of the Glasgow Rangers team.

Recently, there have been rumors that Gike Hagi wants to return his son to Farul Constanta, but there is also talk of a possible move to Turkish side Trabzonspor.
