Despite the fact that “Chelsea” has once again become one of the most active teams in the transfer market, it has already suffered its first failure in the Premier League. The Londoners lost away to West Ham United with a score of 3:1 in the second stage of the EPL.

Chelsea, failure on the field of West Ham United

After a draw in the first match with “Liverpool” (1:1), “Chelsea” suffered the first failure in the current season of the championship.

More than €300 million was spent on transfers this summer alone, and Mauricio Pochettino’s side suffered a heavy defeat at West Ham United in the second leg of the Premier League.

Nayef Agerd opened the scoring after just 7 minutes at the London Stadium, but Carney Chukwuemeka scored on the stroke of half-time (28th minute).

Chelsea could have led 2-1 at the break, but Enzo Fernandez wasted a shot from 11 meters in the 43rd minute.

In the second half, the Hammers took the lead after a goal by Mykhailo Antonio (min. 53), but the hosts lost in the 67th minute when Agerd received a second yellow card.

Despite this, the home team persevered and even scored the 3rd goal in the 5th minute of overtime. Lucas Paqueta shot from 11 meters.

After two matches, Chelsea are in 14th place with one point, while West Ham United have 4 points and are in 6th place.
