Ricardo had both hands and his left leg amputated at the age of eight after being electrocuted by high-voltage wires, News.com.au reports.

Ricardo won his fifth track para-cycling world title in the C1 scratch race and a gold medal in the time trial.

At the age of 47, Ten Argiles also received a prize from a sponsor: two Tissot watches.

Although netizens found the moment during the awards ceremony awkward, the athlete accepted the gift with a smile, then posted a video of himself wearing the watch on his bicep and joking with a friend: “Ricardo, what time is it?” / “It’s time for the world champion.”

“I’m very happy to have won two Tissot watches, one on each hand, but mainly because of what it means for Paralympic cycling,” he wrote on Twitter.
