Svitolina stated that she made this decision because of pain in her leg, and said that she has had this problem since Wimbledon (she reached the semifinals).

Elina also participated in Washington and Montreal, but the results were not so good (she stopped in the quarters, respectively in the first round).

“Unfortunately, I have been suffering from leg pain since Wimbledon and have been advised to have a scan after Montreal. The MRI showed some issues that need to be addressed, so I won’t be able to play in Cincinnati this year.

I’m very disappointed to have finished my career but I love the fans at Cincy and I love playing in front of them which makes it even harder but I have to follow the medical advice I’ve been given.

Now I will do my best to rest and recover before the US Open. Thank you for understanding” – Elina Svitolina.

  • He took Elina’s place at the main table Varvara Grachova (45 WTA, she was born in Moscow, but represents France).
