Hannah Dingley became the first woman to coach a professional men’s football team in England at the start of June, but her adventures on the bench at Forest Green Rovers will end this week, Reuters reports.
Hannah Dingley is replaced on the Forest Green Rovers bench after two weeks
Dingley, who holds a UEFA PRO licence, was appointed as interim head coach earlier this month following the departure of Duncan Ferguson. She was also the only woman to run the club’s academy.
Dingley will be on the bench for friendlies against Coventry City and Everton U21s this week.
“I am grateful to him for being at the helm of the club while we went through the entire recruitment process. Although she did not get the position of head coach at the moment, it was undoubtedly a valuable experience and an important step in her career” – Dale Vinceowner of the club “Forest Green Rovers”.
Forest Green Rovers were relegated to League Two (England’s fourth tier) at the end of last season, and the new head coach will be David Horsman, who most recently coached the Southampton club’s second team.
