Former Manchester City footballer Benjamin Mendy has had a new trial which has finally resulted in his acquittal on ten counts of rape and sexual assault.

Two days after learning of the verdict, Vinicius Jr. posted a message on social media.

The Real Madrid player has expressed his support for Mendy and sounded the alarm after missing two years of his career.

“I’m sorry for everything you’ve been through, Benjamin Mandy. You lost two years of your career, but that’s the least.

What about the psychological damage? I’m sure your life will never be the same. The culture of reputation destruction has claimed another victim.

How long will we be accused and condemned without the right to the presumption of innocence?

The winner of the 2018 World Cup as part of the French national team, Benjamin Mendy, spent more than four months in a detention center, from August 2021 to January 2022.

Released at the beginning of January, he was placed under judicial supervision.

The French international has played for Manchester City since 2017 when he moved from Monaco for a transfer fee of £52 million.
