Polish football has been boiling for several days. The president of the federation (PZPN) Cesari Kulesha has found himself in the crossfire and caught up in lies after an exposé by SportoweFakty.
The Warsaw daily published the fact that Miroslav Stasiak was among the guests of PZPN in Chisinau, for the match against Moldova in the preliminary matches of Euro 2024 (2-3), on June 20.
Businessman arrested in 2006 and convicted on 43 charges of match-fixing in the Polish championship. The sentence: three years in prison, a lifetime ban on sports (later the sentence was reduced to 10 years on a conditional basis) and a fine of 44,000 euros!
The president of the federation pointed the finger at oil giant Orlen
At first, Kulesha confirmed Stasiak’s presence, but claimed that he had not invited him, but one of the sponsors of the forum. Claiming that only in Moldova did he realize that one of the main figures in the biggest corruption scandal in Poland is part of the PZPN delegation.
The head of the federation did not name the sponsor. But it turned out. Kulesha was pointing to Orlen, the largest company in Poland and one of the most important European oil groups with estimated sales of 20 billion euros and an estimated market value of 10 billion!
Orlen: “Myroslav Stasiak was not our guest”
But Orlen immediately reacted by denying: “We want to inform that Myroslav Stasiak was not a guest of our concern during the trip organized by PZPN to Moldova. We strongly deny any speculation on this topic.”
As Przeglad Sportowy Onet reports, the federation’s explanations are untrue. In fact, Stasiak was invited to Chisinau by Caesar Kulesh. And the president of PZPN is in a critical situation.
