On Thursday, the International Handball Federation drew the groups of the 2023 World Cup, which will be held in Denmark, Norway and Sweden.

Romania will be drawn in Group E alongside hosts Denmark, Serbia and Chile.

“This is a difficult group, obviously, with two strong teams from Europe. We face the European vice-champion Denmark, as well as Serbia with valuable players, many of whom even play in the MOL Flower League.

Chile are a South American team on the rise, but we will be clear favourites. It is important to go to the main groups with points. We know that many Romanians live in Denmark and we expect them to support us in these very important matches, as they always do when we play away from home.

I am confident in the potential of the national team, and we will approach each match with a clear desire to get to the pre-Olympic tournament,” said Romania coach Florentin Pera, according to FR Handbal, News.ro reports.

The top 3 places in the group advance to the main round.

The 26th edition will take place from November 29 to December 17 and will be hosted by three countries for the first time: Denmark, Norway and Sweden.
