Despite being known for more than a month since his appointment as the Londoners’ bench, Mauricio Pochettino made his first announcements as Chelsea manager on Monday. The technician also coached Southampton and Tottenham in England.
Mauricio Pochettino: “Chelsea has been the biggest team in England for the last 10, 12, 15 years”
Uncommitted from July 2022 after leaving Paris Saint-Germain, Mauricio Pochettino has been in talks with several of Europe’s biggest clubs for a year.
The Argentinian coach eventually agreed to take charge of Chelsea, and the Londoners parted ways with several players this summer.
Despite this, Chelsea have passed on big names and brought Christopher Nkunka and Nicholas Jackson to Stamford Bridge.
Mauricio Pochettino also made his first announcements as Chelsea manager, with the manager stressing that he is at the most important English club in 15 years.
“It is a great honor and pleasure for me to join Chelsea. We are extremely excited and I know Chelsea very well, which is one of the biggest clubs in the world. Of course, it was very easy for us (not him and his staff) to make the decision to move here.
It is exciting for us and we want to bring happiness back to this great club. We will work hard, we will play in a way that the fans enjoy football, Chelsea’s history is winning, but it is also important how we build victories.
Over the past 10, 12, 15 years, “Chelsea” is the biggest team in England. I know the Premier League very well and I know the culture of Chelsea. I think the fans are happy to get back to winning ways.” – said Mauricio Pochettino.
