Al-Nassr failed to win the title last season (finishing second to Al-Ittihad) and this prompted a change in management, with Rudy Garcia being sacked at the start of the summer. Dinko Yelicich performed a temporary role.

Castro, 61, said two weeks ago that he had received an attractive offer from the Saudi team for a two-year contract.

“Botafogo has been informed by coach Luis Castro of his decision to accept an offer from a club abroad, ending his tenure as coach of the team” – Botafogo in the application.

Castro previously coached Porto and Shakhtar Donetsk, and in March 2022 moved to Botafogo, a club owned by American businessman John Textor, who also bought Lyon Olympique this year, writes News.ro.

Botafogo are currently top of the Brazilian league, seven points ahead of Gremio.
