Ashley Barty stunned the tennis world when she retired at the age of just 25, and Ons Jaber believes the former WTA number one could have achieved incredible milestones had she not made this surprising decision.
Ons Jabert believes Ashley Barty can win 20 Grand Slams
Jaber, who is ranked No. 6 in the WTA rankings (her highest result is 2), says Barty has been able to win at least 20 Grand Slam titles (the Australian won Roland Garros 2019, Wimbledon 2021 and the Australian Open 2022).
“I think change has been long overdue in women’s tennis, and it’s definitely coming in men’s tennis. The example of the Williams sisters and Federer, Djokovic and Nadal is incredible.
Now Iga sets this example, and Ash Barty has done it too. Had he continued to play, he would have won 20 Grand Slams.
But I like the WTA circuit as it is now. It’s such a competition that you don’t know who’s going to win, and frankly, maybe that’s for the best. Sometimes it’s boring to always have the same ending” – Ons Jaberquoted by The Guardian.
Ashley Barty won at Roland Garros 2019, Wimbledon 2021 and Australian Open 2022. The Australian held the first place in the WTA ranking for 121 weeks.
Ons Jaber says Ash Barty would win 20 Grand Slams:
