The national team left for Pristina on Wednesday, where they will face Kosovo on Friday at 21:45 in the third match of Group I of the European Championship 2024 qualifying tournament.
Janis Hagi and the joy of returning among the tricolors
Recovering from an injury that kept him out for almost a year, Janis Hagi missed Romania’s first two games, wins against Andorra and Belarus.
In an interview with FRF TV, the Rangers midfielder is hoping for two wins to take the men to the top of the group.
“If we manage to get two wins now, it’s clear that we will fight for qualification there. But it would be wrong to say in advance.
Now we have to focus on the first match, against Kosovo, and the preparation until then. In order to qualify for the European Championship, it is clear that we need to play 10 matches very well. Therefore, we hope to complete the promotion in June in the same way as we completed it in March.
I am proud to be back in the national team. I am mentally and physically ready for any situation and ready to give 100% for the team. It was difficult every time I couldn’t be part of the national team in my last year.
But in March, my colleagues did a very good job, they managed to start this campaign right away. It’s 6 out of 6 and that’s really good because the morale will obviously be positive, the confidence will be much better.
It would be an honor to qualify for EURO 2024, I know the feeling of being selected for the final tournament, but under-21s and it doesn’t compare to any win in any club team and any trophy.
This is a unique feeling, so you want to experience it as soon as possible. I am very confident in the qualification, this is my feeling… I have known these colleagues since I was 11-12 years old, I know who I am going out on the field with, and I have no doubt that our moment will come.” – said Janis Hagireports Digisport.
On June 16, at 21:45, Romania will meet with Kosovo, and three days later, at the same time, with Switzerland in Group I of the Euro 2024 qualifying tournament.
