Currently, Tadici, who is the coach of the women’s handball team HC Zalău, claims that his family is pressuring him to retire from sports.

“I have 49 years of handball, it was nice to reach 50. It was nice and symbolic. 9.99 sounds different than 10 lei. I may not continue.

The family is very stubborn. Everyone in the family is passionate. This year took three years of my life, I am also old. No one makes a statue of me.

As long as I see how they are going, what degradation is everywhere, the degradation of public money, I have no more interest and motivation. Unlike the others, I had 17 players, 14 of whom were Romanian.

The local authorities supported me as much as they could. But it was not about wasting public money. For 6-7 years, I have the smallest budget of all teams. My wife, children, daughters-in-law, grandchildren beat me. They have been extremely hot, especially in the last period. I have the power to contradict them, I have the power to train. I have the strength to train more than colleagues 20-25 years younger. Without offending anyone.

Training is not about doing training, getting in the car and going, arriving, giving directions. It’s more than that. I manage the club here in Zaleu. And if I stop, I retire forever. You won’t see me anywhere else.

I am not afraid of death, I never thought that I would die on the handball court. I saw the case of Ihor Turtsyn from Sala Giulești. I didn’t think about it then, and I don’t think about it now. We do not choose our fate. I don’t see a problem. It can happen at any time.

I will give the answer to the family in two weeks. I will not leave Zalău like this. I don’t go and leave an empty house. I’m going to talk to important people here. Handball and Zaleul gave me everything,” Gheorghe Tadici for ProSport.
