
Olena Ostapenko endured a tough first-round match at Roland Garros, but the Paris 2017 Grand Slam winner says she is ready to repeat her feat this year.
Olena Ostapenko wants to win another Grand Slam title
The athlete from Latvia, who is ranked 17th in the world, led in both sets of the match against Tereza Martinsova (2-3 and 1-5), but in the end won with the score 6-3, 7-5.
The WTA 1000 semi-finalist in Rome, Jelena, believes she can win at Roland Garros and win the second Grand Slam title of her career (the first was also on clay in Paris in 2017 after the final with Simona Halep).
“It was an incredible moment that I experienced here six years ago and I am working very hard to achieve something like this again.
My goal is to become a Grand Slam champion again, I think I am on the right track to win another such trophy. What I did in Rome gives me great confidence.

In the second round of Roland Garros, Ostapenko will meet American Peyton Stearns (69 WTA).
The Roland Garros tournament takes place from May 28 to June 11, has a total prize pool of 49.6 million euros, and is the 127th tournament. Iga Sviatek and Rafael Nadal (14-time winner in Paris) became the champions of the title.
