Elina Svitolina will give all the money won at the WTA Strasbourg tournament to children in Ukraine

Elina Svitolina won the 17th title of her career in Strasbourg on Saturday, her first since taking a year off to give birth to a baby girl.

The athlete, who made an impressive jump in the WTA hierarchy thanks to her success in France, at the end of the match with Anna Blinkova addressed the Ukrainian people, who have been suffering for more than a year due to the Russian invasion.

“Winning this trophy means a lot to me. Especially here, where I received the trophy in 2020, when the coronavirus pandemic broke out. It is very nice to be without a mask, holding a trophy.

I will give all the money won at this tournament to the children of Ukraine. I would like to thank France for doing an incredible job of welcoming Ukrainians, doing everything possible to make them feel safe… Together we will see the light and win this war.” Elina Svitolina said.
