The most contested Super League trophy of the last decade was unveiled today by Professional Football League eAD and main partner Superbet at an event hosted by the Bucharest Football Museum. The new trophy with a height of 58.3 centimeters and a weight of 5.2 kilograms is made of a special coin metal alloy and silver-plated.
The trophy will be awarded to the champion of the 2022/23 Super League, one of the most competitive stages of the national football championship. “Farul Constanta” or “FKSHB” will raise the trophy at the end of the title fight, in which CFR Cluj also participated until the second part of the playoffs.
Whichever of the two teams lifts the trophy will be the champion of the special season. Two stages before the end of the Super League 2022/23 championship brought a number of record indicators in the recent history of the competition:
- On the average 10,852 fans in the stands in the playoffs*, the highest average since the current format was introduced, after regular season games had an unprecedented average stadium attendance in a decade
- 42,439 fans were in the stands of the FCSB – CFR Cluj match, the largest attendance of Super League matches in the last 7 years
* After the first 7 stages of the playoffs.
“We hope that the 2022/23 Super League season will be a turning point for the national football championship and that this trophy will be there until then. With an increase in the number of spectators in the stands, the Super League returns to an upward trend and demonstrates its growth potential.”he explains Justin Stephan, general secretary of the Professional Football League.
For the first time in the competition’s history, the SuperLiga also benefited from a nationwide 360° advertising campaign by Superbet, eAD and the Professional Football League, with matches on TV, outdoor and digital. A notable impact has been the impressive growth of Super League’s digital and social networks.
“The championship that is coming to an end is the first season of our cooperation with the Professional Football League and eAD. Since the launch of the Super League last July, our common and main goal has been to bring fans, especially young ones, back to the most important sporting events in the country. The numbers confirm that we are on a very good path together. The new trophy is part of an integrated brand and marketing concept for the Super League and has been designed specifically for this competition, modeled on the powerful European championships, by a multinational design team including specialists from France, England, Croatia and Romania. , in cooperation with the State Mint, an institution to which I especially thank for its professionalism and seriousness.”stated Vlastimir Vukadinovich, Marketing Director of Superbet.
To develop the concept of the trophy, the designers were inspired by themes and motifs specific to Romania, such as traditional motifs or the column of infinity, as well as references from international football, thus creating a trophy designed and manufactured 100% for the Super League.
“The first season of the Super League is a success from all points of view. We have a show, a fight for the title between several teams, a tense final that will determine the champion in the last stages and a lot of spectators in the stands, which makes us happy the most. We thank Superbet for their cooperation this season.”– he declares Orlando Nicoara, managing partner of eAD.
The silver-plated and hand-engraved cup will bear the name of the current season’s winner.
“It is a great honor for us that the State Mint has been given responsibility for the implementation of this important project for Romanian football. For the realization of this project, eight cutters and engravers from the workshops of the State Mint spent more than 120 hours involved in the formation of metal to receive the Super League trophy.”– he specified Florian Popescu, Head of Marketing Service of the State Mint.
The trophy will be displayed for three days at the Bucharest Football Museum (Gabroveni St., No. 24), and on Sunday it will go to Constanța. If Mayak wins, the trophy will be presented to Gheorghe Hagi’s team in Ovidiu. If the game ends in a draw or FCSB wins, the trophy will be presented at the final stage either in Cluj, where Farul plays CFR, or in Bucharest, where FCSB host Rapid.
