
Gabriela Ruse (152 WTA) failed to make a surprise in the second round of the “WTA 1000” tournament in Rome, losing to Brazil’s Beatrice Haddad Maia (15 WTA) with the score of 6-2, 6-3.

The Romanian started the first set well and kept the pace until the score was 2-2, from where the Brazilian defended herself, taking advantage of two serves lost by the Russian.
In the second set, Haddad Maia, the 12th seed of the tournament, started perfectly and quickly took a 3-0 lead, Gabriela Ruse won three games, but it was too little to doubt the victory.
The game lasted one hour and 29 minutes.
In the third round, Beatrice Haddad Maia will meet with Poland’s Magda Lynette (19 WTA).
For the trip from Rome, Gabriela Ruse secured a prize of 12,652 euros and 35 points in the WTA ranking.
WTA Rome takes place from May 9 to 20 on the clay in the Foro Italico complex. His total prize money is $3,572,618 and is in the “WTA 1000” category. Iga Svyatek became the champion of the last two competitions.
