Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz (2 ATP) again respected his status as the favorite and qualified for the finals of the “ATP 1000” tournament in Madrid, beating Croatian Borna Coric (20 ATP) in the semifinals.

Having been in great form in Madrid where he dropped just one set, the top seed defeated Coric in two sets and one hour and 41 minutes, 6-4, 6-3.

This is Alcaraz’s fifth final this year, having won tournaments in Buenos Aires, Indian Wells and Barcelona before losing in Rio de Janeiro.

In the other semifinal, an unexpected match will take place between the German Jan Lennard Struff (65 ATP) and the Russian Aslan Karatsev (121 ATP).

The ATP Mutua Madrid Open takes place from April 25 to May 7 on clay in the Caja Magica complex. It is in the ATP 1000 category, has a total prize money of 7,705,780 euros, and the titular champion is Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz.
