The second half saw pressure on the visitors’ goal, with Jong, Dembele and Lewandowski competing for misses, the latter also failing to convert due to offside.
The winning goal did not come until the 85th minute when Jordi Alba headed into the near corner after Lewandowski’s cross and Frankie de Jong’s well-timed strike.
Second-placed leaders Barcelona are 14 points ahead of Real Madrid ahead of their clash with Real Sociedad with five games to go.
